Hi @jmw2of9,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It must be frustrating to see that ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) error message, especially when everything else is working fine. Here are some steps you can take to try to clear the error:
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- This can sometimes reset the ADF and clear minor errors.
Check for Paper Jams:
- Open the ADF cover and carefully check for any paper jams or small pieces of paper that may be stuck.
- Even tiny scraps can cause the sensor to detect a jam, so make sure everything is clear.
Clean the ADF Rollers and Sensor:
- Dust or debris on the ADF rollers or sensors can cause errors. Gently clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with water or a mild glass cleaner.
- Let the parts dry completely before attempting to use the ADF again.
Ensure Proper Document Alignment:
- Check that any documents placed in the ADF are properly aligned and within the correct size range for your printer.
Update Firmware:
- Visit HP's support site and check if there’s any firmware update for your printer model. Firmware updates can fix known bugs and improve ADF functionality.
if the error persists after these steps, it could indicate an internal hardware issue with the ADF. In that case, reaching out to HP Phone Support might be the next best step.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
