When scanning or copying multiple pages using the ADF I get a kind of grinding noise as the paper is drawn through the ADF. When doing 2 sided scanning or copying I get this noise as the ADF tries to draw the paper back to scan or print the reverse side and the paper is not picked up

Hi @LesterM,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

Perform the following tasks in the order given. Use the printer after each task to see if the issue is resolved.

Clean the automatic document feeder (ADF)

  • If your printer has an ADF, clean it regularly to help avoid paper jams and quality problems.
  • Get a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
  • Remove the original document from the ADF.
  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Open the ADF cover.

Lifting the ADF cover

  • Find the paper pick rollers and the separator pad inside the ADF.
