I still can't get this all-in-one Auto document feeder to load papers anymore. I believe that this is a mechanical error, or a sensor that has failed. I don't know how to order parts or go about fixing this. And all small service centers no longer exist in my area to repair personal printers.

I feel like HP is let me down on so many levels it's unbelievable. This is like a $700 paper weight now!

I'm still getting a clicking or grinding noise when the printer/scanner attempts to draw the paper in.

Here's my last attempt to explain it:

When you place a piece of paper into the ADF you usually get a light chime or ding that states the paper has been seen or received. That ding no longer occurs. When you try to start scanning your document the printer makes a paused grinding noise and then throws up an original misfeed error, and claims there's a paper jam. Which obviously there's not. I believe that the sensor or switch that registers the piece of paper being in the tray has failed? I cannot find any way to repair this. Somebody's got to have some kind of option or solution.

Please help!

Unfortunately very few smaller parts are available for inkjet products and most service centers are not interested in looking at these models for that reason. This is not limited to HP, most manufacturers offer few parts for many models. Your best option is likely to check ebay for someone parting out a printer.

I'm going to look around for a used one for parts, I sure hope I've got the problem diagnosed properly. If it's not the switch, I am going to be in way over my head.

Electronics are not my friend, and I've not used a soldering iron since high school.

Wish me luck.
