Message says paper is jammed in ADF, but I cannot see any paper in the ADF. ADF does not take in paper. Printer works fine from manual feed (prints, copies and scans), but message still shows.

Hi @joebirrell,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the paper jam error on your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Check ADF for Obstructions:
- Turn off the printer.
- Lift the ADF cover and remove any visible debris or small pieces of paper stuck in the feed mechanism.
- Use a flashlight if necessary to inspect the entire feed area.
Clean the ADF Rollers:
- Open the ADF cover and gently clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.
- Rotate the rollers to ensure all surfaces are cleaned.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error message persists.
Check for Sensor Issues:
- Sometimes the paper jam error can be caused by a malfunctioning sensor. Inspect the sensors in the ADF for any visible damage or obstructions.
- If necessary, gently clean the sensor areas using a lint-free cloth.
Run Printer Diagnostics:
- Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix any issues. This tool can be downloaded from the HP Support website.
Clear Error Messages:
- Navigate to the printer's menu and check for any hidden error messages.
- Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clear Errors or Reset Printer.
Manually Feed Paper into ADF:
- Insert one sheet of paper into the ADF and gently push it until it starts feeding into the mechanism. This can sometimes clear minor obstructions.
Check Your Printer Software:
- Ensure you have the latest printer drivers and software installed on your macOS 12.0 Monterey.
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers.
I hope this helps.
