HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3835 All-in-One Printer

A cleaner moved the printer, and days later I realised the input tray was no longer connected as it was placed on top of the printer. I first thought it was fine and was able to be disconnected but upon further inspection it looks as if it is broken off because theres a small grey attachment thats also off, thus i struggled to find a way to connect it again. So I need input as to whether it is possible to disconnect & reconnect the input tray, and if so, how to reconnect it, or if not, how to fix it?

Hi @DollaFreebase

It sounds like the input tray of your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3835 might have been accidentally detached or damaged during the move. Let’s explore whether it can be reconnected or fixed:

Step 1: Inspect the Input Tray and Printer

  1. Examine the input tray and the small grey attachment you mentioned. Look for any visible clips, hooks, or slots that might indicate how the tray connects to the printer.
  2. Check the printer’s input tray area for any broken or misaligned parts.

Step 2: Attempt to Reconnect the Tray

  1. Align the input tray with the printer’s slot where it originally fit.
  2. Gently push the tray into place, ensuring the grey attachment aligns with its corresponding slot or clip.
  3. Avoid applying excessive force to prevent further damage.

Step 3: Test Printer Functionality

  1. Once the tray is reconnected, load a few sheets of paper and test if the printer feeds paper correctly.
  2. If the tray feels loose or doesn’t function properly, it might indicate damage to the attachment points.

Let me know how it goes or if you’d like further guidance! 😊
