HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdw

When pulling pages through the paper path, the CF377-60104 Automatic Document Feeder maintains a light grip on each scanned page instead of releasing it to fall into the ADF output bin.  This is a problem.  The page should be released to fall into the output bin.

Instead, when scanning multiple pages with the ADF, this causes each page to be released into the output bin by being pushed out by the previous page.  The two pages will either interleave randomly or not interleave at all.  Random interleaving shuffles the output.  No interleaving at all causes pages to either jam or be pushed off of the edge of the ADF output bin.

Is there a scanner-floss process to clean this ADF? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

(NB: I was notified this was marked as spam.  CF377-60104 is the Integrated Scanner Assembly for the MFP M477fdw Color LaserJet Pro.  See page 569 of the Color LaserJet Pro MFP M377 / M452 / MFP M477 Repair Manual. Also edited further for clarity.)

This is an integrated ADF/scanner assembly.  No magic pill for this issue.  Try cleaning the exit tray rollers.

Thanks. I'll try that.

I greatly prefer reading reference materials over posting to forums for help, though.  Is there a list of preventative maintenance tasks or diagnostic procedures people have found for ADF/scanner modules like this? I imagine it'd be found alongside detailed documentation for the Embedded Web Server (EWS) explaining every option and its meaning, for example.  I have a J9772A managed Ethernet switch from HP and its documentation was much better.

I'm not being cheeky: I know there must be more resources than the few listed on the support site for this printer, because for example that 59.0240 Transfer Belt Alienation error people are getting after a firmware update is fixed by "printing" a file from dropbox, and that had to come from somewhere.  Where can I find these other resources? Looking for HP links only - not an invitation for spam.  Thanks in advance.

Could someone with WISE access please advise what knowledge base articles or documents are available there for the MFP M477's automatic document feeder (ADF)?  Careful searching led me to the Control Panel Message Document (CPMD) for my printer, and it discusses a system called WISE that's available for HP Channel Partners and for HP employees.

In the meantime I'm trying to affix a cotton swab to a ruler to clean these rollers, since the gap there is far too small for my fingers to reach through.  I'm open to advice on how to perform this recommended cleaning, as the cotton swab doesn't stay in position when pressure is applied.

Thanks in advance.
