We bought this printer for our funeral home to print our memorial folders. The size of the folders are 8.5x5.5 but it keeps saying wrong paper size.

Hi @Catholicdude,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. I am sorry to hear about the funeral

I understand the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw can print on half-size paper (8.5 x 5.5 inches) using the automatic feed, but you'll need to ensure that the printer and the print settings are configured correctly to avoid paper size errors. Here's how you can set it up:

1. Load the Paper Correctly

  • Open the input tray and adjust the paper width guides to fit the 8.5 x 5.5-inch paper snugly. Ensure the guides are not too tight, as this may cause feeding issues.

2. Set the Paper Size in the Printer Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the Setup or Paper Handling menu.
  • Select Paper Size and set it to 8.5 x 5.5 inches (or "Statement" size, depending on your region).
  • Save the settings.

3. Configure the Print Job on Your Computer

  • Open the document you want to print.
  • Go to Print > Printer Properties or Preferences.
  • Select the paper size as 8.5 x 5.5 inches or set a Custom Size if needed.
  • Ensure that the correct tray (Tray 1 or Tray 2) is selected.
  • Check for other settings like scaling and margins to ensure they align with the folder's layout.

4. Use the Correct Paper Type

  • Ensure you're using paper that meets the printer's specifications for weight and type. The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw supports a range of paper weights but works best with standard or light cardstock for memorial folders.

5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure the printer firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues with custom paper sizes.

6. Avoid Paper Mismatches

  • Disable the Paper Size Mismatch or similar settings in the printer menu if you continue to encounter the error. This is usually found in the printer's system settings.

Troubleshooting Steps If Issues Persist:

  • Check if the printer driver on your computer is the most recent version. Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest driver.
  • Perform a printer reset and reconfigure the paper size settings.
  • Test with a single sheet of paper to rule out loading issues.
