I have tried to print on a 4x6 index card, but the printer won't feed it. It doesn't even get jammed in the paper pathway, it just doesn't feed. Is there a solution?

Hi @M-W-D ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer is designed primarily for standard paper sizes such as letter and legal. While it can handle photo paper and envelopes, printing on index cards like a 4x6 card can be tricky due to feeding and size compatibility issues.
Here are some steps and tips to help you print on index cards with your HP ENVY 6055:
Steps to Print on 4x6 Index Cards
Check Printer Specifications: the printer supports the size of the index card. The HP ENVY 6055 supports 4x6 photo paper, so it should theoretically handle 4x6 index cards.
Load the Index Card Correctly:
- Make sure the index card is properly aligned in the input tray.
- Use the paper width guides to ensure the card is snugly fitted and centered in the tray.
Adjust Printer Settings:
- Go to the printer settings on your computer.
- Select 'Print' and then 'Printer Properties' or 'Preferences'.
- Choose 'Paper/Quality' and then set the 'Paper Size' to 4x6 (100x150mm).
- Set the 'Paper Type' to 'Cardstock' or 'Photo Paper' if available.
Software Configuration:
- Use an application that allows custom print sizes. Microsoft Word or similar programs usually have more detailed print settings.
- In the application, set the page size to 4x6.
Manual Feed:
- If the automatic feed does not work, try feeding the index card manually if your printer supports it.
Troubleshooting Tips
Clean the Rollers: Sometimes, the feed rollers might be dirty or dusty, preventing them from gripping smaller or thicker paper correctly. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth and a small amount of water.
Paper Quality: Ensure the index card is not too thick or too thin. The standard index card should be around 200gsm. Anything significantly thicker might cause feeding issues.
Printer Firmware Update: Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates include improvements for media handling.
