HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer

Hello, I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 9018.  There is a paper jam.  I can open the access door where you usually change out ink cartridges.  I think usually when I do that the ink cartridges move but they are not moving, they are all the way on the left.  I can't open the top of the printer.  I have opened it before.  I know that the whole scanning element needs to be lifted at the same time, that if you lift just the uppermost pat it will lock the bottom part.

It seems like something is caught in the front corner by the power button.  I don't want to try lifting too hard and break something.

There is paper that is jammed that I can see from underneath the printer but don't know how to get it out.

Any suggestions for how to open the top of the printer and/or resolve this?  Thank you!

Hi,

Check if removing the input and output paper trays may allow removing the jammed paper, please check the "Clear jammed paper from the input and output tray" section below:

Thanks for your reponse.  When I remove those trays I can see the paper.  If I tilt the printer and get underneath I can reach the paper, however haven't been able to successfully remove it.  I'm afraid if I try hard I will rip it.

Perhaps the more concerning thing is that I'm not able to open the "ink cartridge access door" like I'm normally able to.  The top section lifts for the scanner, but not the layer beneath it.  It feels like something is caught around the area of the power button.

Any other suggestions?  Thanks.
