Hi @Heida,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To reset your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw printer and potentially clear the paper jam, follow these steps:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  1. Turn Off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the Printer: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the electrical outlet.
  3. Wait: Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect: Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and then into the back of the printer.
  5. Turn On the Printer: Press the power button to turn the printer back on.

2. Clear the Paper Jam Manually

  1. Open All Access Points: Open the printer’s front cover, rear door, and any paper trays.
  2. Remove Paper Carefully: Gently pull out any jammed paper. Ensure you remove any small pieces of paper that may be stuck.
  3. Check the Paper Path: Inspect the paper path and rollers for any bits of paper or debris. If necessary, rotate the rollers manually to check for any stuck paper.

3. Perform a Printer Reset from the Menu

  1. Access the Printer Control Panel: On the printer’s touchscreen, navigate to the Home screen.
  2. Open the Setup Menu: Select the Setup icon (usually represented by a gear or wrench).
  3. Navigate to Printer Maintenance:
    • Select Service or Printer Maintenance.
    • Choose Restore Defaults.
  4. Confirm Reset: Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm and reset the printer to its factory defaults.

4. Use the HP Smart App or HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP Smart App: If you have the HP Smart App installed on your computer or mobile device, you can use it to troubleshoot and reset the printer.

  • Open the HP Smart App.
  • Select your printer.
  • Go to Printer Settings or Advanced Settings.
  • Choose the option to reset the printer or clear paper jams.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website.
  • Run the software and follow the on-screen instructions to detect and resolve any issues with your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
