Hi @Heida,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To reset your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw printer and potentially clear the paper jam, follow these steps:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn Off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.
- Unplug the Printer: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the electrical outlet.
- Wait: Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect: Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and then into the back of the printer.
- Turn On the Printer: Press the power button to turn the printer back on.
2. Clear the Paper Jam Manually
- Open All Access Points: Open the printer’s front cover, rear door, and any paper trays.
- Remove Paper Carefully: Gently pull out any jammed paper. Ensure you remove any small pieces of paper that may be stuck.
- Check the Paper Path: Inspect the paper path and rollers for any bits of paper or debris. If necessary, rotate the rollers manually to check for any stuck paper.
3. Perform a Printer Reset from the Menu
- Access the Printer Control Panel: On the printer’s touchscreen, navigate to the Home screen.
- Open the Setup Menu: Select the Setup icon (usually represented by a gear or wrench).
- Navigate to Printer Maintenance:
- Select Service or Printer Maintenance.
- Choose Restore Defaults.
- Confirm Reset: Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm and reset the printer to its factory defaults.
4. Use the HP Smart App or HP Print and Scan Doctor
HP Smart App: If you have the HP Smart App installed on your computer or mobile device, you can use it to troubleshoot and reset the printer.
- Open the HP Smart App.
- Select your printer.
- Go to Printer Settings or Advanced Settings.
- Choose the option to reset the printer or clear paper jams.
HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website.
- Run the software and follow the on-screen instructions to detect and resolve any issues with your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
