Cannot print labels - Printing is misaligned

HP Recommended
HP Deskjet F4185
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am using a software Easy Label Printer (from http://www.studio-soft.co.uk/) to print labels using my HP Deskjet F4185 printer. The labels are in 6 x 2 format; i.e 2 labels in a row and 6 such rows in one sheet. The overall size of the label sheet is A4.

I took the measurement of the top margin, side margins and the gap between the labels and updated the Easy Label Printer software. It allows me to take a sample print out. I used that to take a sample print out on a normal (not label sheet) A4 size paper and it came out perfectly aligned.

When I actually feed in the label sheet, the printing is getting misaligned completely. So much so that not even one address gets printed neatly on the label. The printer starts printing right on top of the label sheet (i.e the top margin is ignored), and so every address is printed incorrectly. Now if I feed in a normal A4 size paper the printer just works perfectly fine.

What could be possibly going wrong here? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

NOTE: At times I have also observed that the label paper also slips, and the printer rollers are unable to pull in the label sheet neatly inside. But this does NOT happen always. The label misalignment issue was observed after November 2020.

Welcome to the HP support community.

This seems to be a driver issue:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer-related software.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

I am now reinstalling the printers. I checked the web site for the updated FirmWare for HP Deskjet  F4185. Did not see any updated firmware. Only the driver installer and a tool kit was found. I will update your further on the progress.

The same issue persists even after reinstalling the printer drivers.
