Printer encountered a paper jam while printing a 32-page (or thereabouts) document. I cleared the paper jam. Now the printer returns a carriage jam message and makes a loud bang when carriage returns to the left.
Is there a solution for this or do I need to get a new printer.
I really really like the printer and plan to replace it, if there is no solution, but have been having trouble finding a new one.
Thanks for your help. I am not positive about the Windows Operating System. I bought the computer summer 2019. It's an All-In-One and I would recommend it to others who have been wondering (like I did before purchase) if it was a good choice. I did have some addition RAM added by a local computer tech.
I am not a computer whiz, by any means. Not even sure where to look for a response to this if there is one.

Most of this style printer use a mylar grid (encoder strip) that a sensor on the carriage reads to know where the carriage is. These can get smeared with ink or dislodged and then the printer has no idea where the head is and bangs it against the end stop because it does not know where it is. Best picture I could find but in that area you should see the encoder strip and the drive belt. If the strip is dirty, you can clean i with a solution of 90% water and 10% alcohol. The alcohol removes finger print oils but too strong and it will remove the grid from the encoder strip, rendering it useless.
