HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 All-in-One Printer

There is a rod that has a gear at the end which lifts the print-head carrier into the park position.  This gear broke and now the print-head carrier won't leave the parked position.

First, is there a service manual and second, where can I get that gear?

@Zathras1, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printhead is stuck and the carriage rod is damaged. This is not a replaceable part and is not available.

The printer has to be replaced.

The rod is not damaged, the plastic gear at the end of the rod broke.  If I had another, I could replace it.  What about a service manual?

@Zathras1

I understand. There is no service manual for printers as internal parts are non-replaceable. You may click here - User Guide

Contact the HP Support team as mentioned in my message for assistance with replacement.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
