Hi @richardjunker,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To clear a blockage in the document feeder of your HP OfficeJet 8600 printer, follow these steps.
- Power Off the Printer: Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source to prevent any electrical hazards.
- Inspect the Feeder Area: Carefully inspect the document feeder area for any visible debris or blockages. Use a flashlight if needed to get a clear view.
- Clean the Rollers: Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to clean the rollers and separator pad. This can help remove any paper dust or residue that might be causing the blockage.
- Check for Small Debris: Use compressed air to blow out any small debris that may be lodged in the feeder mechanism. Be gentle to avoid damaging any components.
- Test the Feeder: After cleaning, plug in your printer, power it on, and test the document feeder by running a blank sheet of paper through it. Check if the lines on copies issue is resolved.
These steps should help clear any blockage in the document feeder of your HP OfficeJet 8600 printer and resolve the lines on copies issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

The advice confirmed my approach to clearing the blockage. I used a flashlight to inspect all rollers, etc., but I have no blower to clear loose debris. So that will be my next step.
Thank you for the guidance.
