Hi @Tasosm7x,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing a carriage jam on your HP printer and have found a small plastic piece that might belong to the printer, here are some steps to help you clear the jam and identify the plastic piece:
1. Turn Off and Unplug the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Allow the printer to sit for a minute to ensure there is no residual power.
2. Open the Printer Access Door
- Open the printer's access door to reach the carriage area. This is usually the same door you open to replace the ink cartridges.
3. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions
- Look for any paper jams, torn pieces of paper, or other obstructions in the carriage path.
- Carefully remove any obstructions you find.
4. Move the Carriage Manually
- Gently move the print carriage to the left and right to ensure it can move freely. Do not force it if it is stuck.
- If the carriage is stuck, look for the cause and gently remove any blockage.
5. Inspect the Plastic Piece
- Examine the plastic piece closely. Check if it has any markings or specific shapes that might indicate where it belongs.
- Compare it to other parts inside the printer to see if you can identify a similar piece or a place where it might fit.
6. Common Plastic Pieces in Printers
- Small Gears: Often used in the carriage or paper feed mechanisms.
- Guides or Clips: These might hold cables or other components in place.
- Lever or Sensor Actuators: Small pieces that interact with sensors or switches.
7. Reassemble and Test the Printer
- Once you have inspected and removed any obstructions, close the access door.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Print a test page to see if the carriage jam issue is resolved.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
