I CANNOT Gently pull out any jammed paper from the rollers in the rear door area because there is only a tiny edge of the paper showing on the roller and I am unable to grasp to pull from the rollers.   Is there a way I can roll the paper out from the roller enough so I can grasp it?

Hi @Redhen20,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're dealing with a paper jam where only a tiny edge of the paper is visible, and you cannot grasp it, there are ways to roll the paper out further so you can remove it safely.

Turn Off and Unplug the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. This is crucial for your safety and to prevent any damage to the printer.

Access the Rollers from the Rear Door:

  • Open the rear access door or duplexer (if your printer has one). This is often the easiest way to access the rollers.

Manually Roll the Rollers:

  • Locate the paper rollers in the rear or accessible area.
  • Gently turn the rollers manually in the direction the paper feeds. This will help move the jammed paper forward enough for you to grasp it.
  • If the rollers are hard to turn, do not force them. Instead, move to the next step.

Use the Printer’s Control Panel:

  • Some HP printers have a paper feed or maintenance mode accessible via the control panel. Check the printer's manual for instructions on running a paper feed or cleaning cycle, which can help move the paper forward.

Use a Thin Tool (if Necessary):

  • If the paper is still hard to reach, use a pair of tweezers or a paper clip carefully. Be gentle to avoid damaging the rollers or tearing the paper.

Check the Front Access:

  • If the rear rollers don't help, open the front access panel where the cartridges are located. Sometimes you can access the paper from there.

Perform a Reset:

  • After clearing the jam, reconnect the printer, and turn it on. Run a test print to ensure no residual pieces of paper are left in the printer.

Preventive Measures:

  • Use high-quality paper that matches the printer's specifications.
  • Keep the paper tray properly loaded and avoid overloading.
  • Regularly clean the rollers to prevent buildup that might cause jams.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
