Hi @Jaylou64 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting an E4 error on an HP DeskJet 2710e typically indicates a problem with the paper feed or an issue with the cartridges. Since you’ve already checked for paper jams and installed new ink cartridges, here are a few additional troubleshooting steps to try:
Check the Paper Path:
- Open all access doors and check for any small pieces of paper or foreign objects that might be causing the error.
- Ensure that the paper tray is properly aligned and that paper is loaded correctly, with the guides adjusted to the paper size.
Check the Cartridges:
- Remove the ink cartridges and inspect the cartridge slots for any obstructions or debris.
- Reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they click into place firmly.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear error codes.
Clean the Paper Feed Rollers:
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with water to clean the paper feed rollers.
- Gently rotate the rollers with your fingers while cleaning to remove any dust or debris.
Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve error codes.
