Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My Envy 7645 prints using every method EXCEPT opening the top and laying the original on the glass. Then, I hear odd chugging noises and get the error message, "The document feeder was not able to pick up the original. Load the original in the document feeder and try again."  I believe I see the corner of paper caught waaay back behind the roller guard with no way to reach it. Followed the paper jam video but nothing about reaching that deep in the machine. Any ideas?

Hi @Lolly713,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are dealing with a tricky paper jam situation, especially if the paper is stuck deep within the printer where it's difficult to reach.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Power Off and Unplug: Before attempting any further action, make sure to power off the printer and unplug it from the power source. This will ensure your safety and prevent any potential damage to the printer.
  • Open Covers: Open all accessible covers and trays of the printer to get a better view of the paper path and the stuck paper.
  • Use a Flashlight: Since the paper seems to be stuck deep within the printer, using a flashlight can help you get a better view of the area and locate the stuck paper more accurately.
  • Manual Extraction: If you can see the corner of the paper but it's too deep to reach with your fingers or tweezers, you may need to gently try to extract it using a tool like long tweezers or a pair of needle-nose pliers. Be extremely careful not to damage any internal components while doing this.
  • Follow the Printer Manual: Check your printer's manual for specific instructions on how to access and clear paper jams. Sometimes, printers have hidden panels or mechanisms designed for paper jam removal.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
