Whenever I turn on printer and try to copy, I get message that original is jammed in document feeder. There is nothing jammed in feeder. If I go through the steps of pretending to remove it, sometimes message clears.

Hi @BillT39,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-In-One Printer is displaying an erroneous error message stating that the original is jammed in the feeder when there is no actual jam, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue.
Check for Actual Jams: Even though the error message is erroneous, it's still a good idea to check for any actual paper jams or obstructions in the feeder. Open all doors and covers to visually inspect the paper path and remove any stuck paper or debris.
Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve false error messages. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute or two, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Update Firmware/Software: Make sure your printer has the latest firmware and software updates installed. HP releases often release updates to fix bugs and issues.
Reset the Printer: You can try resetting the printer to its default settings. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the printer's control panel, touch the Setup or Tools option (the name may vary).
- Navigate through the menu to find the Reset option and select it.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the printer.
Clean the Feeder: Dust and debris can sometimes trigger false jam errors. Use compressed air to blow out any dust or debris from the feeder and paper path.
Check the Document Feeder Sensors: Inspect the sensors in the document feeder for any dirt or obstruction. Clean them carefully with a lint-free cloth or compressed air.
Check Paper Settings: Ensure that the paper you're using is the correct size and type for the printer. Incorrect paper settings can sometimes trigger false jam messages.
Perform a Hard Reset: If none of the above steps work, you can perform a hard reset, which involves completely disconnecting the printer from power and then reconnecting it. Here's how:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Disconnect any USB or network cables.
- Wait for a few minutes.
- Plug the printer back into the power source.
- Turn on the printer and reconnect any cables.
Remember that false error messages can sometimes be caused by software glitches or sensor issues, and the above steps should help in most cases.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
