Hi @Hammer756

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 7645 is showing a false paper jam message, where it says there’s a paper jam but no paper is actually stuck, there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue. This could be due to sensor issues, dust, or a slight misalignment. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully fix the problem:

1. Turn off the Printer and Unplug It

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
  • Wait for a few minutes to allow the printer to reset.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on to see if the message clears.

2. Check for Paper Jam in the Feed Area

Even if you don’t see a jammed piece of paper, it’s worth carefully inspecting the printer for any bits of paper or debris:

  • Open the paper tray and gently pull out any paper.
  • Open the rear access panel (if your model has one) and check for any paper that could be lodged in there.
  • Inspect the rollers inside the printer for any paper remnants. Sometimes small bits of paper can get stuck in the rollers and cause a jam error.

If you find any debris or paper fragments, carefully remove them.

3. Check the Paper Sensors

Your printer has paper sensors that detect the presence of paper. If these sensors are dirty or misaligned, the printer might think there's a jam when there isn’t one. You can try cleaning them:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Look for small paper sensors inside the printer, often located near the paper feed area or where the paper exits.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a compressed air can to gently clean around these sensors to remove any dust or paper residue.

4. Check the Paper Tray

Sometimes a paper tray that is slightly out of alignment can trigger a false jam message.

  • Remove the paper tray and reinsert it properly into the printer.
  • Ensure the paper is properly loaded (not overfilled or crumpled).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
