Hi @BillLawrenson,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet 1200 printer is stopping halfway through the fuser when printing a test page, there are a few things you can check to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Paper Jam:

  • Check for any paper jams in the printer. Even if you replaced the fuser, there might still be remnants of paper from a previous jam. Make sure to clear any paper stuck in the printer.

Paper Type and Size Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper type and size settings in the printer driver match the actual paper loaded in the printer. Mismatched settings can cause printing issues.

Fuser Installation:

  • Double-check the installation of the new fuser. Make sure it is securely and correctly installed. Sometimes, improper installation can lead to printing problems.

Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve issues with printer functionality.

Driver Issues:

  • Ensure that you are using the correct and up-to-date printer driver for your operating system. Outdated or corrupted drivers can lead to printing problems. Download the latest driver from the HP website and install it.

Paper Quality:

  • Check the quality of the paper you are using. Poor-quality or damaged paper can cause printing problems. Try using a different batch of paper to see if the issue persists.

Print Queue Issues:

  • Clear the print queue on your computer to make sure there are no stuck print jobs causing the problem.

Sensor Check:

  • Look for any sensors in the paper path and around the fuser area. Ensure that they are clean and not obstructed. Sensors play a crucial role in detecting paper movement and can cause issues if they are dirty or blocked.

Test with Different Applications:

  • Print a test page from different applications or software to see if the issue is specific to one application. This can help identify whether the problem is software-related.

By systematically checking and addressing these potential issues, you should be able to narrow down the cause of the problem and hopefully resolve the printing issue with your HP LaserJet 1200.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your response Alden4. When I say printing a test page I mean the printer is not connected to the computer. I’m printing a test page from the printer, so it has to be a printer problem does it not? It did this before I replaced the fuser, but being so old I decided to replace the fuser. But it still stoped 1/2 way through the fuser. The printer laser motor was making a loud noise, and I Disassembled it and oiled the motor shaft. That fixed the noise. Could this have anything to do with it?
