After Windows 11 latest update to Build 22631.4037, the LaserJet 1020 printer started spitting out an extra blank page after every print job. I never had this problem before it just started with the recent update of Windows 11.
I checked the advance setting and there is no separator page listed, but it still feed this extra blank page after every print job.
If I print a test page, it prints it correctly, but it also feeds an extra blank page.
I see that this kind of problem was reported before, but not with recent Windows 11.
The latest software/driver available was used for this printer and worked fine for the last year till this build 22631.4037.
I found a temporary solution by installing an older version of the printer software and drivers.
I uninstalled the latest HP version and reinstalled the one showing below that has a digital signature of June 5, 2013.
After that the problem is fixed, I cannot reproduce it, when I print a test page there is no extra blank page spitting out.
No idea what was change in this latest Windows update to cause this problem to show up.
I'll leave the old software and driver for now unless I get a reply to the FBH report.

Hi @fg2001,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've effectively managed to work around the issue by reverting to an older driver version. This suggests that the latest Windows update might have introduced some compatibility issues or changes in how print jobs are handled.
Here are a few things you can consider moving forward:
- Driver and Windows Compatibility: Keep an eye out for any new updates from HP or Windows that might address this issue. Sometimes, software updates can introduce temporary bugs that are resolved in subsequent patches.
- Windows Feedback: Since this problem appeared after a specific Windows update, consider reporting it to Microsoft through the Feedback Hub. This can help them address the issue in future updates.
- Printer Configuration: Ensure that your printer settings, both in Windows and the printer's properties, are configured correctly. Sometimes updates can reset or change default settings.
- Temporary Solutions: For now, sticking with the older driver is a practical solution. Just be aware that older drivers might not support all the latest features or security updates, so use them cautiously.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
