That appears to be the upper fuser exit guide. If you remove the toner cartridge that is typically where that device goes. It is not designed to be removed so it is possible that one of the retainers is broken, if not you may be able to reseat it.

Check both sides for these 2 retainers, they should not be missing or damaged
The green goes to the green hole in the printer, and the red one locks in the red cut hole. The picture shows the right side, the left is the same.
You will need to insert one side first green to green and then bend the plastic part with your hand in the middle to shorten the distance and insert the green to green on the 2nd side. Lift it and it will lock red to red.
Watch your hands when bending and try not to hurt yourself, it will need some force to get it in place.
