Hello,
Have an HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dw
Printer has been running completely normal in all aspects.
All of the sudden, start getting 'Paper Jam Tray 2' problems. (This is the exact same issue that others have had in prior threads. See below picture copied in from another thread.)
Problem:
Paper is being picked up from tray 2 ok. (I've taken out, cleaned, and rotated the roller belt just in case. No noticeable benefit)
Paper will feed up the back side and seems to jam and 'crease' as it approaches or as it tries to enter the fuser. Then triggers a Tray-2 jam message. Note: No printer on the paper has happened yet when this happens. As I am taking the paper out via pulling it back out from tray-2. Comes out easier that way instead of possibly having a tear come off trying to pull it out from rear of printer.
I have taken apart what I can to clean all the rollers I can get to. No noticeable help.
After clearing jams, it will occasionally print a page or two, then go back to the jam.
What seems odd is that it will print the occasional page, instead of just a constant jam.
In an older thread with the same problem there was mention of trying to leave the rear of the printer open so you can watch how the paper is being fed up and when it actually jams. They mention you may have to press a door open override somewhere.
My question is, can someone point out where the override button would be that I can press while trying to run paper through it.
I have also take out the imaging tray and cleaned that and the attached cleaning blade on it thoroughly as well. (even if this doesn't help.
Am at a loss of what to do next. Have not replace any other rollers, unless audience feels higher percentage of success.
Part numbers for those would be nice as well if available.
All advise is welcome. Am not really looking to spend $400 on a new printer.
Thanks in advance,

That type of jam suggests that some component in the paper path that is supposed to be turning is not. First thing I would do is determine if the fuser and exit rollers are rotating properly. You might need to put a mark on one of the fuser gears to see if it is actually turning. Also make sure that the registration assembly is working properly.

Hi, and thanks for the reply.
Quick note, I do get the occasional single page to print, but it will then go right back to the jam.
So, basically not functional.
I can try to replace the fuser I guess and see if that helps. Would it work sporadic like this though.
Any thoughts on how to test the registration assembly you mentioned.
Have also been doing a lot of online searching for info, and am wondering if there is a way to manually test the 'Door Sensor & Fuse Enter' sensor, thinking it is 'creasing' on trying to enter the fuser it looks like, so maybe the fuser sensor may not be working correctly.
Note: Occasionally it will print a single page or two, then go right back to jamming again.
Thanks,

Serial # of my printer is: CNB7G5H8ZJ and Model #: CF387A (HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476dw)
Hello again,
Well, studied the printer schematics (paper path diagrams, etc) in the HP clj pro m476 Troubleshooting Manual and ideas of what parts are associated with paper path functions and I decided that, since the paper is 'creasing' all the way across the paper cleanly, a good place to start might be to just replace the Fuser & sensor and see what happens.
I ordered a Fuser that was supposed to be compatible with this printer (m476).
Quick answer, The new fuser looks to be a possible match, visually looks the same and width is good. But, my m476 printer has a box of gears that sits on the left side of the printer and sits right on top of the fuser bracket. I cannot figure out how to take that 'gear box' feature off in order to try to replace the fuser.
The video's I've watched about replacing the fuser on m476dw did not show the added box on the left side of the fuser.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to replace the fuse with that 'gear box' sitting on top of it.
Can't seem to find any videos showing that particular setup.
Serial # of my printer is: CNB7G5H8ZJ and Model #: CF387A
I see no noticeable part numbers on the fuser in my machine, without being able to take it apart more.
The part #'s on the Fuser I bought are below:
RC4-2870-000 11 1 LH38
PBT PET GF30 FR(17)
RC4-2871 11-1
PET GF20 FR(17)
On a side note, any idea for a video on how to replace the sensor (Door Sensor & Fuse Enter Sensor: #RM2-0451-180CN HP)
I'll try to attach a couple photos:
1st photo showing left hand side 'gear box' in installed on top of the fuser.
2nd photo showing close up of the 'gear box'.
next photo is 'gear box' from left side view.
Next photo is of new fuser I bought. (part #'s listed above are listed on this fuser)
Last photo is part # of new fuser (on the box it came in)
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello all,
Well, I found the 'hp-clj-pro-m476-mfp-repair-manual.pdf' (which seems like an important reference to have. Shows you how to dismantle all the different parts of the printer.) and it showed in there how to take off the 'duplex reverse drive assembly', which I could not find a name or other reference/video on.
Was able to carefully take apart all necessary parts and replace the old fuser with the new one I purchased.
I was very careful to install the new fuser with supplied gloves and made sure all connectors were not damaged taking off/on again. Put it all back together nicely. (Note: I did not have to take apart the Left/Right side panels or the rear door assembly or the top scanning unit. There was plenty of room to work without going through all that extra effort.
Put the printer back in place and plugged it in.
Turned on the power, the usual basic startup sounds and after about 10 seconds I hear a distinctly different 'click' sound about 6-7 times in a row. Then no sound. Then about 10 seconds later the same 'click' sound about the same number of times. Then got a message on the display panel saying 'Fuser Error 50.7'. Turn Printer off then on again.
I did that and got the same sounds and message again.
Note: This was NOT happening with the old fuser at all. Had no problems with machine startup or clicking sounds.
I do remember seeing lots of posts about Fuser Error problems, so this might mean the Fuser I purchased is not working correctly. Since this issue did not happen before I replaced it with the new Fuser.
Note: Control Panel Error Messages on page 79 in the 'HP LaserJet Pro Color MFP M476 Troubleshooting Manual - ENWW' manual.
For Fuser Error 50.7, it basically says it is a 'Fuser Open Error' and suggest turning off, waiting a minute, then back on. If error still occurs, bypass surge protector if in line. If still persists, Fuser is bad.
I did this with same results. So, I'm guessing Fuser I just bought is ... bad...??
Would anyone have any other ideas,
