I have a new printer with which I am struggling to get to grips with. I would like to print on cardstock which isn't going through the main tray very well. I bought this printer as it was said to be able to print on the cardstock I regularly use. I would like to try and print on it using the document feeder as gravity/top-loading may help. For the life of me I cannot work out how to get the print job to go via the document feeder. I have tried searching online, the printers online manual, youtube....etc. Hoping someone can help me, for which I will be forever grateful. Many thanks.

The Short Answer

  • ADF is for Plain Paper Stock > Scan and Copy
  • Printer supports Index Card Stock > 163 to 200 g/m² (card)
  • If not done, Install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software
  • When relevant (and if supported), create a Custom Paper Size form for your paper size
  • Alert the printer to the Paper Size & Type of paper loaded in the printer tray - Tray and Paper Management
  • Set the Printing Preferences - Shortcut and options
  • When viewing / setting up the job, select the appropriate paper type (Media) and paper size.  Depending on the weight of the paper, you might be able to select paper type > Brochure / Professional, Thick, Card, or similar
