HI @Melissa1423,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Printer 9120E is not printing in landscape orientation and is indicating a wrong paper size error, followed by only printing one line of an Excel spreadsheet, here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check Paper Settings and Orientation
Printer Settings: Ensure that the paper size and orientation settings on both your computer and the printer are correctly configured for landscape printing.
Printer Display: Access the printer’s control panel or settings menu to verify the paper size settings. Set it to the appropriate paper size for landscape printing (e.g., A4, Letter).
2. Printer Driver Settings
Print Settings on Computer: When printing from Excel or any other program, confirm that you have selected landscape orientation in the print settings. This setting is typically found in the print dialog box under “Page Setup” or “Printer Properties”.
Driver Update: Check for any updates to the printer driver on your computer. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause compatibility issues with printing orientations.
3. Paper Tray Configuration
Paper Tray Settings: Make sure the paper trays on the printer are loaded with the correct paper size and type specified in the printer settings. Adjust the guides to ensure they are snug against the paper stack.
Manual Feed Option: If using manual feed for landscape printing, ensure that the printer recognizes the correct paper size when you load it manually.
4. Test Print and Calibration
Test Page: Print a test page directly from the printer’s control panel to check if it prints correctly in landscape orientation. This helps to isolate whether the issue lies with the printer hardware or software settings.
Calibration: Perform a printer calibration if available. This ensures that the printer aligns properly with the paper and settings for accurate printing.
5. Clear Print Queue and Reset
Clear Print Queue: Cancel any pending print jobs in the print queue on your computer. Sometimes, queued jobs can interfere with new print settings.
Restart Printer: Power off the printer, unplug it from the power source for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and power it on. This resets the printer and may resolve temporary issues.
6. Firmware Update
- Check for Updates: Visit the HP Support website and look for any firmware updates available for your printer model. Download and install any updates following the instructions provided.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
