HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 displays" Paper Jam". Followed online directions to remove paper. Found and removed paper in back under cover. It also said to move ink cartridge tray to the right and back to the left, which I did with no problem. But the "Paper Jam" error still comes up. The ink cartridge tray is all the way to the right now and will not move more than a quarter of an inch.

Hi @Toolblue,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to still face a "Paper Jam" error even after removing the paper and following the troubleshooting steps. Let’s try a few more steps to see if we can resolve this issue:
Turn off the printer and unplug it: This can help reset the printer’s sensors. Leave it unplugged for a couple of minutes.
Open all accessible doors and covers: This includes the back panel that you've already accessed, as well as any front or top covers if available. This is to ensure no small piece of paper is left inside. Paper jams are sometimes caused by tiny bits of paper that can get stuck in gears or rollers.
Check the ink cartridge carriage:
- Since the ink cartridge tray is stuck, carefully check if there is any obstruction around it. Look for any torn paper, clips, or any other foreign objects.
- Gently try to slide the ink cartridge tray manually. Do this gently to avoid damaging the carriage.
- Ensure the carriage can move freely across the entire width of the printer. If it’s getting stuck, there might be an obstruction or alignment issue.
Clean the paper feed rollers: Sometimes, dust or paper fiber can build up on the rollers and cause feed problems. Use a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water to clean the rollers. Access these either from the paper tray area or the back depending on your printer model.
Check the paper tray:
- Make sure the paper is loaded correctly and the guides are snug but not too tight against the paper.
- Ensure that you are using the type of paper that fits the printer’s specifications.
Plug the printer back in and turn it on: After everything is checked and cleared, plug the printer back in and turn it on. See if the error persists.
Perform a hard reset:
- With the printer turned on, unplug it from the power outlet.
- Wait at least 1 minute. While the printer is unplugged, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. This helps in draining any residual power in the printer, which can help in clearing error states.
- Reconnect the power and turn the printer on.
Check the printer’s software:
- Sometimes the error might be related to the software. Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date.
- You can check for firmware updates on HP’s official website by entering your printer model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
