@Tehley, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Clearing a Watchdog Error!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To clear a watchdog error on HP systems, follow these steps using the BIOS settings:

Access Computer Setup Utility:

  • Restart your computer.
  • During the startup process, press the F10 key to enter the Computer Setup (BIOS) Utility.

Navigate to Watchdog Timer Settings:

  • In the BIOS menu, navigate to the "Advanced" settings tab. This menu provides extensive options that vary depending on your hardware configuration.
  • Look for "Watchdog Timer" under the Power Management Options or Remote Management Options section.

Disable the Watchdog Timer:

  • You will find settings for both the BIOS Watchdog Timer and the OS Watchdog Timer. These timers can be configured or disabled.
  • Disable the Watchdog Timer to prevent further errors:
    • Watchdog Timer (enable/disable) – Default setting is enabled. Ensure it is set to disable if you are facing issues.

Apply Changes and Restart:

  • Save the changes made in the BIOS settings.
  • Restart your computer to apply the new settings.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
