HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

the printer starts printer before photo paper is fully loaded, such that the top of photo is cut off, and bottom is blank.  This happens with photo paper in both trays.  It used to work perfectly.  Photos print fine on plain paper.  Coincidentally warranty just expired, although I don't know when I last printed photos.  I was on phone with tech help for over an hour - reset everything.  Did not help.  Any other solutions?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to your printer?
  • Are you using the appropriate paper type for the print job? Check the condition of the photo paper, and then reload it. Also replace any ripped, dusty, wrinkled, or bent paper.

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 15 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on.

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document Printer Does Not Pick Up Paper By the end of the article you will be able to isolate the issue.

Update the printer firmware if possible:

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your PC.
  • Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I was on the phone with HP tech support for nearly an hour and one-half. We tried most of these suggestions, and nothing worked. The only thing he didn't advise me about was cleaning the rollers, which i thought may be a problem, but I didn't know how. Thanks for the links.  I will try.
