@KTUK,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E4 error on the HP ENVY 6432e usually means a paper jam or carriage issue. Since you've already checked for visible paper jams, here are a few more steps to try before deciding to replace the printer:

1. Reset the Printer (Basic Fix)

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait 2-3 minutes to clear any stored errors.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.
  4. Check if the error is gone.

2. Check for Hidden Paper Pieces

Even small bits of paper can trigger this error. Try:

  • Removing the paper tray and rear access panel (if applicable).
  • Using a flashlight to look inside for small torn pieces.
  • Checking inside the printer where the rollers are.

3. Inspect & Reseat the Rollers

  • Open the printer and look at the paper feed rollers (the rubber wheels).
  • If you suspect the roller is dislodged, try gently pushing it back into place.
  • Use a lint-free cloth and a damp paper towel to clean the rollers.

4. Check the Carriage Movement

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Open the front cover and move the carriage (the part holding ink cartridges) manually from left to right.
  3. If it's stuck or making strange noises, there might be a hidden obstruction.

5. Run the HP Print & Scan Doctor

  • Download it from HP’s official website and run a diagnostic.

6. Factory Reset the Printer

If nothing works, a factory reset might help:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Hold the power and cancel (X) button for 10-15 seconds.
  3. Wait for it to restart.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
