I have a hp officejet pro 9018e all-in-one. The print cartridge cannot move. It states there is a paper jam or an obstruction but there is nothing. I have cleaned the rollers , double checked everything, turned off, reset, nothing works. Still says same message. HELP!

Hi @Zee1328,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e is indicating a paper jam or obstruction but you have already cleaned the rollers and checked for visible paper jams, the issue might be related to internal obstructions, sensor problems, or mechanical issues. Here’s a detailed troubleshooting guide to help you resolve the problem:
1. Check for Hidden Paper Jams
- Open all access doors, including the rear paper tray and the front panel.
- Look for any small pieces of paper or foreign objects that might be obstructing the paper path.
- Take out the paper trays and inspect the area for any jammed paper or debris.
- Open the print cartridge access door and check around the printhead for any paper or obstructions.
2. Inspect and Clean Rollers
- Verify that the rollers are clean and free from paper dust or debris. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to clean the rollers if necessary.
- Manually rotate the rollers to ensure they move freely. If the rollers are stuck or not turning, they might need to be adjusted or replaced.
3. Reset the Printer
- Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for 60 seconds to ensure a full reset.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
4. Perform a Printer Self-Test
- Run Self-Test or Diagnostics:
- Some printers have a built-in diagnostic tool to check for paper jams or other issues. Check the printer’s menu for any diagnostic or maintenance options.
5. Check for Obstructions Inside the Printer
- Open all doors and check for any small obstructions or debris inside the printer. Ensure that nothing is blocking the movement of the printhead or the paper path.
- Look for any small objects like paper clips or staples that might have fallen inside the printer.
6. Verify and Reinstall Cartridges
- Open the cartridge access door and make sure the cartridges are installed correctly and are not obstructing the printhead.
- Remove the cartridges and reinstall them to ensure they are seated properly.
7. Clean the Printhead:
- Follow the printer’s manual for instructions on how to clean the printhead. If the printhead is clogged, it can cause issues with the printer’s operation.
8. Update Printer Firmware
- Check for Firmware Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I was not able to run diagnostics. The print head does not move at all. It appears locked in the right side of the machine. I am afraid to apply too much pressure as it might break. What else can I do. I did all the other things you suggested, turn off, unplug, reset, etc. Nothing helped.
