Hi @qt9998 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing a "Media Jam" error on the HP LaserJet MFP M140w can persist even after fixing a paper jam if there are residual issues. Here's how to resolve it step-by-step:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
2. Double-Check for Paper or Obstructions
- Open all accessible areas (input tray, output tray, toner area).
- Look for any tiny scraps of paper, dust, or obstructions that could trigger the jam sensor.
- Use a flashlight if needed to thoroughly inspect the printer.
3. Reset the Printer
- Resetting the printer can clear any error messages stuck in memory:
- Turn the printer off.
- Press and hold the Cancel button (or X button) while turning the printer back on.
- Release the button when the printer starts.
4. Clean the Paper Rollers
- Dirt or residue on the rollers can cause misfeeds:
- Turn off the printer.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to clean the rollers in the input and output trays.
- Allow the rollers to dry completely before turning the printer back on.
5. Ensure Correct Paper Settings
- Load the paper into the tray correctly, ensuring:
- The guides are snug but not tight.
- The paper type and size match the settings on your computer or printer driver.
6. Update Firmware and Drivers Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Outdated firmware or drivers can cause persistent errors:
- Download the latest firmware and drivers for the HP LaserJet MFP M140w from the HP Support website.
- Ensure macOS Ventura 13.7.1 compatibility.
