Hi @BudLAE,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP MFP M283cdw is jamming when you try to print on standard photo paper, here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Check Paper Specifications:
- Ensure that the photo paper you are using meets the printer's specifications for weight and thickness. If the paper is too thick or has a glossy finish that the printer can't handle, it may cause jams.
2. Inspect the Paper Tray:
- Remove the paper tray and check for any debris or obstructions.
- Make sure the paper guides are properly adjusted to fit the photo paper and that it’s loaded correctly.
3. Use the Right Paper Settings:
- In the print settings on your computer, select the correct paper type (e.g., “Photo Paper”) to ensure the printer uses the right feeding method and print settings.
4. Clean the Paper Feed Rollers:
- Dust and debris on the paper feed rollers can cause paper jams:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the rollers.
- Allow them to dry completely before plugging the printer back in.
5. Try Different Paper:
- Test with a different type or brand of photo paper to see if the issue persists. Sometimes specific brands can be problematic.
6. Check for Firmware Updates:
- Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. Check the HP Support website or the HP Smart app for updates.
7. Perform a Printer Reset:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and clear any errors.
8. Inspect for Internal Jams:
- Open the printer and check for any internal jams or pieces of paper that may be stuck inside. Carefully remove any debris you find.
9. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool available on the HP Support website to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
