Error code paper jam. Dismantled device, cleared, reassembled (3 times). Still error message and won't print. Is there a way to reset? I've tried turning it off and back on also several times.

Hi @MelindaA33,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer is displaying a paper jam error message even though there is no visible paper jam, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue.
- Turn Off the Printer: First, turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. This will ensure your safety while you work on resolving the issue.
- Open the Access Door: Open the printer's access door that provides access to the ink cartridges and paper path. Check for any small pieces of paper, debris, or foreign objects that may be obstructing the paper path. Use a flashlight if necessary to get a clear view inside the printer.
- Manually Move the Carriage: Carefully move the print carriage to the far right and then to the far left. This can help to check for any obstructions along the carriage path.
- Check Rollers and Paper Tray: Inspect the paper rollers in the paper tray and make sure they are clean and free of any paper debris. Also, ensure that the paper in the tray is stacked neatly and not overfilled.
- Reset the Printer: After checking for and removing any obstructions, plug the printer back in and turn it on. Sometimes, resetting the printer can clear the error message.
- Check Sensors: There are sensors in the paper path that can detect paper jams. Make sure these sensors are not stuck or dirty. Gently clean them if necessary.
- Update or Reinstall Drivers: Sometimes, updating or reinstalling the printer drivers can help resolve issues. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Perform a Hard Reset: If the error persists, you can perform a hard reset on the printer. To do this, turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
