HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer

I am continually getting a paper jam in my printer. I have adjusted the printer paper tray and cleaned out the jam and then it does it all over again.

Hi @Steph1972-,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

For the continual paper jams you're experiencing with your HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One printer, here are several steps you can follow to help resolve the issue.

Check the Paper Tray:

  • Ensure the paper in the tray is loaded properly. Paper should be aligned correctly with the tray guides to prevent it from shifting during printing.
  • Make sure you're using the right type of paper for the printer and that it’s not wrinkled, folded, or too thick.

Remove All Paper:

  • Open the printer’s paper tray and carefully remove all paper. Check for any small bits of paper that may be stuck inside.
  • Gently pull any stuck paper from the feed rollers or output tray.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Inspect inside the printer, especially around the paper path and rollers, for any foreign objects or pieces of paper.
  • Check the rear access door (if your printer has one) for any jammed paper.

Clean the Rollers:

  • Over time, the rollers inside the printer can accumulate dust or ink residue, causing them to not grab the paper properly. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to gently clean the rollers.
  • Rollers are usually located near the paper feed area, but you may need to refer to the printer manual for their exact location.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear errors related to paper jams.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, paper feed issues can be fixed with a software update.

Try a Different Paper Type:

  • Test with a different batch of paper. Sometimes, paper can be defective or inconsistent, causing jams.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
