Hi @SavageProf,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Turn Off the Printer:
- Before attempting to remove the output tray, ensure the printer is turned off for safety.
Access the Output Tray:
- Locate the output tray at the front of the printer. It is where the printed pages land after printing.
Gently Remove the Tray:
- Press and hold the two buttons located on both sides of the output tray. These buttons are designed to release the tray.
- While holding the buttons, slowly pull the tray out of the printer. Ensure you're pulling it out straight to avoid any damage.
Clear the Paper Jam:
- Once the output tray is removed, access the printer internals to identify and remove the jammed paper.
- Carefully pull any jammed paper toward you. Ensure that no torn pieces of paper are left inside the printer, as these can cause further jams.
Reinstall the Output Tray:
- After resolving the paper jam, slide the output tray back into the printer. Ensure it snaps into place securely.
- Always handle components gently to avoid causing damage to the printer.
I hope this helps.

Push one side of the output tray where it meets the body of the printer and it will dislodge, pull the other side and it will come out. You are essentially wiggling it left to right. As you we did not locate any release button. Tried all the suggestions on line. Hope this helps you.
