HP DeskJet 4120e All-in-One Printer

I have a series 4100e printer and think I may have a false paper jam or feed issue. When I try to print a multi-page document, the first page prints OK but then the orange warning light comes on. If I press this to clear, printing resumes to the end. I have re-set the printer but this does not help.

Hi @JBCrete,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your HP DeskJet 4120e All-In-One Printer where it indicates a paper jam after the first page, even though there isn't an actual jam. There could be several reasons for this problem, and here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer cover and inspect for any bits of paper that might be stuck in the printer.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions along the paper path.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for a few minutes.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Paper Settings:

  • Ensure that the paper size settings on the printer match the paper loaded in the tray.
  • Adjust the paper guides in the tray to fit the paper properly.

Printer Software Settings:

  • Check the print settings on your computer to make sure they match the paper size and type you are using.
  • Verify that you have selected the correct printer and that it's set as the default printer.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers for your printer. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers if necessary.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Sometimes, firmware updates address such issues.

Inspect the Paper Path:

  • Look for any foreign objects or debris that might be obstructing the paper path.
  • Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the input tray.

Paper Quality:

  • Try using a different batch of paper. Low-quality or damaged paper can sometimes cause feed issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
