I am trying to print on Hobby Lobby invitations. They are set up correctly and print perfectly on plain paper, but when I use the actual card stock invitations its hit or miss (more miss than hit). It seems to be a paper feed problem since they sometimes print off one end of the invitation, or don't hit the paper at all.  Since there is no setting for card stock or index cards, I have tried both HP matte brochure or professional paper, HP matte presentation paper and Other matte inkjet papers, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.  Is there any hope?

Welcome to the HP User Community.

If the printer supports the paper size and the paper weight, then this might work.

Considerations

  • Paper weight and size must be supported by the printer hardware
  • The printer must be aware of the paper size and weight as set at the printer control panel or EWS
  • The Full Feature Software / full driver printer software must be installed
  • The Printing Preferences / Printer Properties must be adjusted to the correct shortcut and attending settings (paper type / size).  Yes, selecting Brochure / thick paper type sometimes works when there is no exact paper type match.  "Card" paper (HP Index 200 gsm) is not specifically mentioned in the specifications -  the paper weight (therefore) might be limited to the Brochure paper weight of 180 gsm.  You might be able to use paper up to about 200 gsm.
  • Your "Hobby" software must be able to understand and use the Printing Preferences / Printer Properties information when setting up the job for printing.

Thank you for this comprehensive reply. I have to admit to being intimidated by the sheer volume of instructions and I took the easy way out and printed them in our office where I knew the printer could handle card stock.  Its a shame that this fairly new printer can't do such a simple task without going through all these steps. I even consulted with  HP in choosing this printer. I never thought to consider paper weights in the decision.  I will save these instructions in case I ever need them.
