HP Color LaserJet Professional CP5225dn Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

my HP Cp5225dn has presented two problems with printing.

1.  The first has been when duplexing, the page should come out of the printer almost completely and then be drawn back in – this is done by the fuser unit which feeds straight into the output bin.  Awhile ago, the page would come out but not be drawn back in to print the other side, resulting in a jam.

2. more recently, pages printed on only one side are jamming inside the fuser unit - a page sticks in the fuser unit, only partially printed.

When the first problem presented, I looked for a replacement "duplexing unit" – appears to be a part on the end of the fuser, which can be replaced.  I ordered and received this part, but despite careful examination of drawings and looking up parts, it is not a part that can be installed on the fuser.  So I lost there.

But now, this second problem suggests to me I should replace the fuser unit entirely?  This is my question.  This will cost from a few hundred for an aftermarket fuser to nearly 1000 for an OEM fuser.  I am wondering if the problems described are definitely with the fuser.

thanks,

R

Are you using HP OEM toners or remanufactured toner?  Do the jams occur on text documents, color documents, or both?  The fuser does not duplex print jobs.  I believe that there is a reversing motor that feeds the paper back through the fuser and into the duplex paper path.
