Hello, I have been having difficulty with my printer as of recently. It refuses to print, but makes sounds like it is attempting to. Both the "exclamation mark" and the "i" information symbol flash, but there is no indication about what is actually wrong. The information page will print well from the printer, but nothing else will print. Sometimes, we will get a notification when trying to print that the "tray is open" or the "paper is out", but neither are the case.
I have attempted to fix this on multiple occasions with no avail with every trick under the sun. I have restarted it many times, I have done a "hard restart" on it, I have ensured that there are no jams in the printer, have turned it onto its side and opened the bottom to look for jams, I have replaced the ink, done a software update on it, and have cleaned it out internally with electronics duster to ensure that nothing is jamming the tray openings. I'm not sure where to go from here, as I have tried all of the "tricks" on these forms without luck.
I would very much like to speak on the phone with tech support in regard to this, as the online help platform does not seem to work. We are desperately in need of a fix for this printer to ensure our patients in our doctors office are getting the best care possible.
Thank you for your time.

Hi @Peakprinter,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've already tried a lot of the standard troubleshooting steps. Given the persistent issues with your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe, it might be useful to explore a few more advanced troubleshooting steps:
Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Sometimes firmware updates can address unexpected issues. Ensure that the printer's firmware is up-to-date. This might require downloading the update from HP’s official website and applying it.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Try performing a factory reset on the printer. This will restore the printer to its original settings. Be sure to consult your printer’s manual or HP’s support site for the exact procedure to perform a factory reset.
Inspect Paper Path:
- Even though you’ve checked for jams, sometimes small bits of paper or debris can cause issues. Ensure the entire paper path is clear. Remove and reinstall all paper trays and ensure they are seated correctly.
Check Printer Settings:
- Access the printer’s settings menu from the control panel and review the settings for paper size and type. Make sure these settings match the type of paper loaded in the trays.
Examine Toner Cartridges:
- Remove and reinstall the toner cartridges to ensure they are seated properly. If possible, try using a new toner cartridge to rule out any issues with the current one.
Check Network and Connection:
- Verify that the printer is properly connected to your network if it's a networked printer. Ensure that the printer's IP address hasn't changed and that it matches the settings on your computer.
Diagnostic Tools:
- Some printers come with built-in diagnostic tools accessible through the printer’s menu. Check if there’s a diagnostic option that can help identify issues.
