My HP Envy Photo 7855 all of sudden started printing crooked and with little or no top margin when I load 8 1/2" x 11" photo paper in main tray. It will print regular paper fine. I have cleaned all rollers and turned off/unplugged printer. I have also ran the alignment. So weird only happens with photo paper all of the sudden? Any thoughts?

Hi @Tchall65,

I'd like to help!

To better assist -

What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or device?

What is the weight of the paper you are using?

Refer to printer specifications to know the supported paper type and size.

You may refer to the document -Print Driver Settings Guide (Windows)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@Jay_G24

I am printing from MacWord the same program I have printed from for last 2 1/2 years.

I am using Staples ultra premium photo paper in matte/ 61 #. Same paper I have been using for 2 1/2 years.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Let's try a power reset on the printer

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Try and realign the printer -

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. Adjust the paper width guides until they rest against the edges of the paper.

  3. Print an alignment page.

    • Control panel (printers with menus): Open the Tools or Printer Maintenance menu, and then select the option to Align cartridges, Align printhead, or Print an Alignment Page.

    • HP Smart app (Windows 10, macOS, Android, iOS): In the app, click your printer, click Print Quality Tools, and then select the option to align the printheads or cartridges.

    • HP Printer Assistant (Windows): Click Maintain Your Printer, and then select the option to align the printheads or cartridges.

    • HP Utility (Mac): Click the option to align the printheads or cartridges.

Keep me posted!
