Hi @ET110,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're thrilled to have you on board!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your printer is saying to "Close Paper Tray" but it’s already closed, try these steps:

Check for Obstructions

  • Open the paper tray fully and look for any jammed paper, small objects, or misaligned parts.
  • Remove any loose paper and reload it properly.

Ensure the Tray is Fully Inserted

  • Push the tray in firmly but gently until it clicks into place.
  • If it’s slightly misaligned, remove it and reinsert it properly.

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the printer while it is ON.
  • Hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Printer Sensors

  • Sometimes, dust or debris can block sensors inside the tray area. Use a soft cloth to gently clean around the paper tray slot.

Update Firmware

  • Visit HP Support, enter your printer model, and check if a firmware update is available.

If the issue persists, let me know your printer model, printer's serial number or product number with us via private message, and I’ll give more specific troubleshooting steps! 😊
