Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My printer is a HP OfficeJet Pro 8029e-All-In-One.  I purchased it last April 2023.  It gets light use, no problem keeping pages printed under my allocated 300 pages per billing cycle.  Just within the last 30 days I have experienced paper mis-feeds which cause print to be smeared and print being out of alignment on the page; also experienced a paper jam, first ever, even going back over years when I was using a Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One.

Has anyone experienced the same with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8029e-All-In-One?  Can paper weight cause the problem?  I just recently started 22 lb instead of my usual 24 lb because the store was out of 24lb.

Hi @KENBOB8028e,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I can offer some general advice and troubleshooting steps for the issues you're facing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8029e-All-In-One.

Paper Quality and Weight:

  • While the printer is designed to handle different paper weights, using a lighter-weight paper may sometimes lead to misfeeds or paper jams. Try switching back to the 24 lb paper to see if the issues persist. It's possible that the lighter paper is not being gripped properly by the printer rollers.

Paper Alignment:

  • Ensure that the paper guides in the input tray are correctly adjusted to match the paper size you're using. Misalignment can lead to paper feed issues and smudged prints.

Check for Foreign Objects:

  • Inspect the printer for any foreign objects or debris that might be causing the paper jam or misfeeds. Even a small piece of paper or dust can disrupt the printing process.

Clean the Rollers:

  • Over time, paper dust and residue can accumulate on the rollers, affecting their performance. Use a lint-free cloth and distilled water to gently clean the rollers. Refer to your printer's manual for specific instructions on how to clean the rollers.

Update Firmware and Drivers:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. HP often release updates to address performance issues and improve compatibility.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Plug it back in, turn it on, and try printing again. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
