Has anyone solved the issue with racheting noise from HP Deskjet F4580 yet? Two days ago I had the same problem after changing my HP cartridges. I've had the printer for years but never such a problem other than not being able to connect wireless. It prints fine, just the bloody noise!

Hi @PHazell,
I'd like to help!
Let's try a power reset on the printer
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Check for jams or broken parts in the printer, refer to -A 'Paper Jam' Message Displays for HP Officejet 4400 (K410), Deskjet Ink Advantage (K209), and Deskj...
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you very much for your response. I had done a reset as you have suggested and many others! There are no warning lights or error messages. It prints, aligns and clean paper feed etc. It just makes his horrid noise when it is switched on or ready to print. It was sudden & unexpected so no idea why this noise started. I suspect its the paper feed that has gone bonkers but there is no way of getting near it on a Deskjet F4580!!!!!
