I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 9020. Printer will not operate because it states I need to clear a paper jam. I have looked and I do not see any jammed paper. However, the blue-handle paper path cover does not lift out. It is stuck. I am afraid if i use full force and try to lift it out I will break the cover or damage portions of the internal system. NY recommendations?

Hi @midship80,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Turn Off the Printer:
- Power off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
Check Rear Door and Automatic Document Feeder (ADF):
- Open the rear access door or ADF to inspect for any bits of paper that might be stuck.
- Remove any paper you find carefully.
Inspect Paper Path:
- Use a flashlight to thoroughly inspect the paper path for any small pieces of paper that might be causing the issue.
- Be sure to look for small pieces of torn paper in all accessible areas.
Gently Attempt to Lift the Blue-Handle Cover:
- Try to gently wiggle the blue-handle paper path cover. If it feels stuck, do not apply excessive force.
Use Tweezers or a Small Tool:
- If available, use tweezers or a small, non-metallic tool to help remove any visible scraps of paper that could be causing the obstruction.
Check the Paper Path Sensors:
- Check around the paper path sensors for any debris that might be causing the false jam error.
Use Paper Path Cleaning Kit:
- If you have a paper path cleaning kit, you can use it to ensure there are no obstructions or residue in the paper path.
Restart the Printer:
- After ensuring there are no obstructions, reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
- Try to print a test page to see if the issue is resolved.
I hope this helps.
