I DITCHED MY LAST  PRINTER AS IT STATED OUT OF PAPER WHEN IT WAS NOT. BOUGHT A NEW HP PRINTER AND IT SAYS EXACTLY THE SAME.

Welcome to the HP Community --

In general, Out of Paper is an error condition and perhaps not a Death Knell for the printer.

Remember, brand new printer is in Warranty.

If nothing helps, contact HP Support (links included later in this message).

Brand new printer -

Open the printer peer and peer inside to make sure all shipping cardboard, tape, and paper is removed.

Make sure paper is loaded correctly and is of a supported size, type, and weight.

Paper should be in good condition - old, curled, brittle, or damp paper can result in errors and problems.

Do not overload the top loader intake tray.
