Hi @WES-MP,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer is making a squealing noise while using the top feed, it can be quite concerning. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check for Obstructions
- Inspect the Top Feed Mechanism:
- Turn off the printer and open the top feed cover.
- Look for any obstructions such as paper scraps, dust, or foreign objects that may be causing the squealing noise.
- Carefully remove any visible obstructions using compressed air or a soft cloth.
2. Clean the Document Feeder
- Clean Document Feed Rollers:
- Dust and debris on the document feed rollers can sometimes cause noises. Clean the rollers by gently wiping them with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water.
- Avoid using alcohol or other solvents as they can damage the rollers.
3. Check Paper Quality and Condition
- Use High-Quality Paper:
- Low-quality or damaged paper can cause feeding issues and noise. Ensure that you are using good-quality, undamaged paper.
- Fan the paper stack before loading it to prevent sheets from sticking together.
4. Adjust Paper Settings
- Paper Type and Size:
- Verify that the paper settings in the printer's control panel or software match the type and size of the paper loaded in the top feed tray.
- Incorrect settings can lead to paper jams or noise during printing.
5. Reset the Printer
- Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer and from the power outlet.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
6. Update Printer Firmware
- Check for Firmware Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website and enter your printer model (OfficeJet Pro 9010) to check for any firmware updates.
- Firmware updates often include improvements and bug fixes that can resolve noise issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
