Just when the printer had to start printing, it stops with the error Carriage jam. I Specify that I didn't have any paper jam, no change of ink cartridge. Opening the printer, the carriage can't move, it stays blocked

Hi @Manu136,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your OfficeJet Pro 9010e is showing a “Carriage jam” error even though there is no paper jam and the carriage won’t move. Let’s go through a few steps to fix this.
1. Power Reset the Printer
With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
Unplug it from the wall outlet as well.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug it directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors) and reconnect the cord to the printer.
Power it back on and check if the carriage moves.
2. Check for Obstructions
Open the ink cartridge access door.
Gently move the carriage with your hand (if it unlocks).
Look for any small bits of paper, packaging tape, or foreign objects inside the printer.
Remove anything blocking the carriage path.
3. Reinstall Ink Cartridges
With the printer powered on, remove all cartridges.
Inspect for damage, leaks, or dirt on the copper contacts.
Reinsert them firmly until they click into place.
4. Check Carriage Path & Belt
Inspect the carriage rail and the carriage belt for dust or debris.
Wipe gently with a lint-free cloth if you notice buildup.
Ensure the belt is still connected and not loose.
5. Update Printer Firmware
If the printer boots past the error temporarily, update to the latest firmware via HP Smart app or the HP Support website.
Outdated firmware can sometimes cause carriage detection issues.
6. Hard Reset with Cartridges Out
Remove the cartridges and disconnect power.
Hold down the Power button for 15 seconds.
Reconnect power, turn on the printer, then reinsert cartridges one by one.
I hope this helps.

Hi, Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, after watching the video on HP support site, I already made all these actions but without success. Also because the carriage stopped on the very right side of the printer which didn't allow me having any access to the ink cartridge. To be honest I am a little bit disappointed regarding HP printers. My last one made this kind of system error but at least after 5 years. This one just after 1 year, quite new printer... I admit that I expected more from HP printers.
I brought the printer to a dealer for repair but I'm not very optimistic about the result.

Hi @Manu136,
Thank you for your update and for taking the time to try all the troubleshooting steps. I completely understand your frustration—especially with a relatively new printer showing a “Carriage jam” error that prevents access to the cartridges.
It’s understandable to feel disappointed, particularly when your previous printer lasted much longer without such issues. Given that the carriage is stuck on the far right and you’ve already tried all the recommended steps, having it inspected by a certified dealer or HP service center is the right course of action.
I truly appreciate your patience and for sharing your experience. While I understand this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for, bringing the printer in for service is the safest way to ensure it’s properly repaired and to prevent further damage.
Thank you again for keeping us informed, and I hope your printer gets resolved quickly.
Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
