OfficeJet Pro 9015e cover wont open

I just bought a new HP OfficeJet 9015e. It jams when trying to print envelopes, but I can't open the glass scanning bed to get to the inside of the printer to remove the jam. It feels like it's locked somewhere on the left side, and I don't want to force it and break something.

Printer should not be locked, though it might still have packing tape sticking to the top section(s) somewhere.

Tape can be everywhere you think it is not.

And...remember to open the front paper tray and peer inside the tray area - there might be a bit of cardboard that was used to protect the inside tray space during shipment.

• Top ADF section should lift from front.
• To open the front door, place your finger along the top edge of the front vertical door and gently pull the door toward you.
• To access the interior of the printer, lift from the front center edge of the top section near the arrow.

(Use two hands on either end of the front edge to help prevent dropping the top section.)

If the envelopes continue to  jam...

Consider...

1. Only standard type envelopes are supported - no heavy weight, no scallops, ragged edges, no foil interiors.
2. Sizes, including custom sizes, are supported to the extent the printer can handle the size range.  That said, printer can handle "smaller paper" than it can tiny envelopes.  Trying to print an unsupported custom size envelope does not generally cause a jam and instead will likely just issue an error message.
3. The printer must be aware that you are printing envelopes.

• Set the paper size / type on the printer display panel after loading envelopes.
• Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to check / adjust the tray and paper management setup.
• Set your Printing Preferences to "Everyday" paper or similar before starting your job to create the envelope.
