Hp office jet 6978 printer is not correctly feeding specialty paper. Prints are coming out un-aligned. Never had this problem before.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Is it only happening with this type of paper? How are the copies coming out?

Try the steps from here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-6970-all-in-one-printer-series/8289585/model/1...

Try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Let me know if this helps.

I've tried the suggestions and it did not work. Its the thickness of the paper. I've printed on Matte photo paper 61lb,  Photo Glossy 53lb and regular plain paper. The 61lb & 53lb photo paper is not feeding into the printer correctly.  It just started this as I've printed on both papers numerous times as I make cards and have never experienced this problem. What can I do?

Let's try to reset the Printer here:

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.
